Hi.

I've been on a bender. Not eating as well as I should be. I feel like crap.
Saturday morning. It's back on serious mode.

Thursday

I HAD SUGAR.

Ok, so it's been 30 days of no sugar. I can't even believe I did it. I can actually cross something off my bucket list now too. It's sad really but in my scrapbook bucket list i made when I was 16, I wrote "stay off ice cream for a long time". 1 month is a long time for an addict like me. Crossed off! :)

I celebrated by doing this.

9:45 a.m: Sweet potato fries (leftovers from the other night). A CUPCAKE. It was delicious and sweet. You could really taste the sugar.

Anyway, it's all good. My plan today is to buy a friggin amazing cookie at lunch from this bakery down the street. Eat it, enjoy it. and then... *drumroll please* STAY OFF SUGAR. I'm keeping this up. It was good for me and I felt better. I'm planning not to be addicted like I was before. Only saving it for when it's really worth it. I feel like I know the difference now.

12:00 p.m: Spinach salad and cauliflower crust pizza I made.
I had the cookie and it was fucking delicious. Like, wow.

Egg salad sandwich

Clearly I am obsessed. This photo is for someone, she knows who she is, who I know loves seeing "Egg salad sandwich" in her newsfeed.

Wednesday

7:30 a.m: shake at home. Almond milk, banana, spinach, protein powder, cinnamon, coconut flakes.

9:00 a.m: egg salad sandwich.

1:15 p.m: A sandwich that was all grilled veggies, avocado and hummus. Sweet potato fries. Protein chips.

4:00 p.m: 2 rice cakes with 1/2 avocado spread over.

5:30 p.m: Date almond drink from Fresh. Ugh.

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. SWEAT. My shirt was soaked.

11:00 p.m: I made the cauliflower pizza for lunch tomorrow. Had to taste it.

Sucks that its this late but let's face it. I got home at 10, prepped and popped in the oven by 10:45. I can't go any faster. Still gotta shower and get all my shit ready for tomorrow. Gonna be up late today. :(

Tuesday

1:00 p.m: Last of the vegie curry with Greek yogurt.

3:00 p.m: 2 hard boiled eggs

So I never get any gifts of any sort at work. Today, this supplier of mine brought me delicious looking Starbucks cookies. Grrrr!! I didn't have any. Still off sugar. I honestly can't believe I've said no this long. I think because I actually feel better, it's become incentive for me to keep staying away.

4:00 p.m: 2 rice cakes with 1/2 avocado spread over them

7:00 p.m: Vega protein bar

8:30 p.m: at someone's house. I nibbled on frozen pizza, guacamole, sweet potato fries, veggies and hummus

Monday, May 27, 2013

Monday

12:00 p.m: Took more food from my parents house. Sarma and tabouli.

5:00 p.m: A small bowl of the veggie curry with Greek yogurt. The one I made on Saturday. It'll make another appearance tomorrow.

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

I have lower back pain today and it didn't get any better. Gonna have to be careful. I know exactly where it came from too. We did V ups twice for 30 seconds each. Killed me. My core sucks.

6:00 p.m: shake. Feels like a cheat. Almond milk, almond butter, dates, cinnamon, banana, maple syrup.

9:00 p.m: protein bar

10:30 p.m: sarma

I sleep at like midnight so I'm not eating right before bed, ok?

Sunday, May 26, 2013

Sunday

9:00 a.m: banana. Pita bread with cheese.

Exercise (11:00 a.m): 1.5 hrs of boxing training. Good.

2:30 p.m: parent's house. Tabbouleh, grilled zucchini and eggplant, veggie burger patty, sarma. Had a homemade popsicle made of strawberry, banana and Greek yogurt. Go mom!
Pattern overload.
4:00 p.m: protein bar

7:00 p.m: more sarma and tabbouleh.

10:00 p.m: protein bar. I cannot be trusted with these in the house.

Saturday, May 25, 2013

Saturday

3:30 p.m: a small bag of those rice cake chips

They we're giving away FREE ice cream sandwiches at the grocery store. The pricy, good kind. I almost broke my no sugar challenge. It was ridiculous. I can't believe I said no to free ice cream.

7:00 p.m: veggie chickpea curry I made. In a pan --> coconut milk, tomato, curry, veggies, chickpeas. Greek yogurt over top later. Love.
9:15 p.m: Shake. Almond milk, spinach, fibre powder, coconut flakes, cinnamon, banana, protein powder.

Parents house.

11:00 p.m: a piece of toast with cream cheese and tomato

Desserts everywhere. Stayed away.

Friday

Is this day over yet?
Long day ahead even though I write this at 1 p.m.

12:15 p.m: Sushi. 4 avocado rolls, 6 sweet potato rolls, 2 tofu rolls.

5:00 p.m: An almond date smoothie thing from Fresh. A sandwich from Fresh. It was brown sandwich bread, fake turkey, some mayo and lettuce. I think. Not bad.

6:00 p.m: A sugarless cookie made of weird hippie ingredients. Not that good. Needed sugar. :P

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

Thursday, May 23, 2013

Thursday

9:30 a.m: A small scrambled egg burrito with salsa.

12:00 p.m: Day 3 (and last day) of The Goods delivery service. This salad was great. I really enjoyed it. The rice mixed in nicely and the dressing was nice and full of garlic. Love me some garlic.
2:00 p.m: Sipping on the juice. Spinach, parsley, celery, apple and hemp. It's ok. I can mostly taste the parsley. I'll down it for the health benefits but I don't love it.
It looks exactly like you'd think. Green.
5:00 p.m: had the same dinner as yesterday. Rest of that veggie curry.

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. Butt and abs! Not as sweaty as usual but I'm sure I got a workout out of it.

10:00 p.m: weird, I know. 2 veggie burger patties with some tahini and nutritional yeast over them. It's all I had and I was hungry. So what.

Wednesday, May 22, 2013

Wednesday

10:00 a.m: Fried egg and cheese English muffin

12:00 p.m: Day 2 of delivery salad. It was good! I suspect thee was some sort of sweetener in the dressing though. Kelp and zucchini noodles, topped with mung bean sprouts, broccoli  peppers and snap peas. Sweet Thai chili dressing. Brown rice.
3:00 p.m: Juice made with dino kale, carrots, apple and ginger. I couldn't finish it. It wasn't good.. says the girl who only drinks water.

5:00 p.m: Finally decided to have proper dinner before boot camp. Brown rice at the bottom and veggie tofu curry on top. Organic, all made from this vegan place so I trust it doesn't have fishy things in there. There's also enough for two servings so I saved the rest for tomorrow. Yes!
Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. I am writing this before the class. My plan tonight is to kick ass at whatever it is. Do not give up no matter how much it hurts. I will update this later with how that goes.

9:00 p.m: Protein shake from the gym. Almond milk, protein powder, banana, ice

10:00 p.m: Can't. Stop. Eating. Banana with almond butter, cinnamon and coconut flakes.

I should just never have food at home.

Update on the boot camp: I was a sweaty mess. More than usual. Hell of a workout.

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

The goods.

Made a post and deleted it by accident.

I'm doing this for the next three days.

Tuesday

This is going to be a long, short week. Boot camp every night.

7:30 a.m: A banana with almond butter, cinnamon and coconut flakes.

12:00 p.m: Day one of delivery salad. Success! It was greens, quinoa, 1/2 avocado, tomato, cucumber and little other things. Sweet pepper dressing. I liked it. I wasn't expecting too cause I'm pretty picky with salads but the quinoa and avocado really did it for me.
2:30 p.m: Big ol juice. Kale, apple, lemon and hemp. Not so bad actually!

5:00 p.m: Protein bar

6:00 p.m: Brussels sprouts with walnuts. Egg salad sandwich. I really need to lay off on the eggs. Maybe that'll be my June challenge. No eggs for a month. If that happens, I'm basically vegan. Meh.
Exercise (7:15 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

9:45 p.m: Shake. Almond milk, coconut flakes, cinnamon, banana, protein powder, ice.

Monday, May 20, 2013

Monday

So I took a few days off of posting. Who cares?
I ate "ok" and didn't exercise. But I also was at a BBQ yesterday and had NO dessert. There was many. Many I wanted. One I even bought myself. I have no idea how I am down this. Really. I'm at a point now where when May is over, I don't wanna cave. I don't think ill be able to give up sugar completely, but I feel like now it doesn't run my life like it did before. I'm very happy about this. :)

10:30 a.m: running out of groceries. Of course everywhere is closed today. A banana with almond butter, cinnamon and coconut flakes.

Exercise (11:00 a.m): ran 5k outside. I forgot how much it sucks running when it's hot. Especially when I wear dark pants and a dark t-shirt. I think it's time I do the unthinkable and wear a tank top. I just can't find a proper workout tank top. They're all tight. I think I just need to DIY an old t-shirt. Done.

4:30 p.m: tabbouleh and egg salad and lettuce in pita bread.
8:00 p.m: 2, yes 2, protein bars.

I was out with friends. There was fudgesicles, donuts and chips in front of me. I had none. Yeah!!! :)

I haven't lost any weight with this no sugar thing but hey, still gonna do it.

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Thursday

9:45 a.m: Fried egg and cheese English muffin, banana

12:30 p.m: Salad that was arugula, feta cheese, strawberries, blueberries and balsamic dressing. Small sweet potato fries with chipotle mayo from A&W.

5:45 p.m: A smoothie from Fresh. It was amazing actually. Almond milk and cinnamon and dates and banana and other things.

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

10:00 p.m: late dinner. Gym life. Stir fry veggies in coconut oil with tahini over. 2 hard boiled eggs with hemp hearts over.

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Wednesday

12:00 p.m: 2 hard boiled eggs, veggies stir fried in coconut oil. Put hemp hearts and nutritional yeast over it all.
2:30 p.m: 2 rice cakes with 1/2 an avocado over them.

Still hungry.

5:30 p.m: Egg salad sandwich, protein bar.

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. The instructor was not the usual one. This one was nothing short of a drill sergeant. We were all scared. But I guess we did the exercises and today my ab muscles hurt so hey, winner.

9:45 p.m: Protein shake. Coconut milk, almond butter, cinnamon, coconut flakes, honey, protein powder, banana

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

Tuesday

8:00 a.m: Protein bar. Sugar free, but good.

My knees really hurt today. :( Not happy about it. There's always those people in boot camp who need alternate exercises for any moves that put pressure on the knees. I don't want to be that person. This better just be a backlash of the 10k from Sunday and the leg exercises from boot camp last night. Cause let me tell ya, they hurt.

10:00 a.m: Pumpernickel bagel with fried egg, butter, caramelized onion and spinach. Damn good.

12:00 p.m: Sarma. Then last of the veggie curry on its own. Damn it tasted good. I noticed it tastes way better like a day or two after I've cooked it. I guess all the flavour gets soaked into the veggies over time. Noted. Make huge batches and just save it for future meals.

3:30 p.m: 2 rice cakes with 1/2 avocado spread over them. Simple and good.

5:30 p.m: sweet potato fries with chipotle sauce from A&W

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

10:00 p.m: hungry girl. Another protein bar. Bad me. 1 rice cake with almond butter, cinnamon and honey. Small chopped tomato with olive oil, S&P, basil and feta cheese.

Made myself lunch for tomorrow. Good me.

Monday, May 13, 2013

Monday

9:30 a.m: Piece of homemade sugar free banana bread. Good! I feel like I haven't had dessert in ages so this was nice.

12:00 p.m: Half an egg salad sandwich on rye bread. Leftovers of the veggie curry with Greek yogurt from Saturday.

4:00 p.m: Baby carrots

7:00 p.m: Protein bar

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp

9:00 p.m: Protein shake. Almond milk, almond butter, banana, protein powder.

Sunday, May 12, 2013

Sunday

6:30 a.m: 2 rice cakes with almond butter, cinnamon and honey

Exercise (8:30 a.m): ran 10k!!! :) according to my app, it took me 1 hr and 11 minutes. Not bad! It felt good. The first few km's were the best. I was on a roll and wasn't stopping. It got good around 5k, sucked at around 7k, but killed it at the end. It was nice. Now I know I can do it. F you former fat me!

11:00 a.m: out for breakfast. An omelette with spinach and cheese. Piece of toast. Potato pancake thing. Good.

Took a nap. I don't nap. But my legs were tired and I'd been up too long for a Sunday. I don't know why I feel I have to justify taking a nap. I don't like naps. I love the feeling of it but then I get up and just feel like I've wasted life. Sleep should happen at night. Live during the day.

5:00 p.m: dinner for Mother's Day. The only place my parents agreed to was Boston pizza. They're not adventurous. We started with nachos. Then I had a huge salad. It was healthy-ish.

My mom bought me red velvet cake she had from a party at her house. I declined.

I still haven't any sugar. It's been 2 weeks. I feel liberated. Seriously. Dessert is no longer something I feel I have to have. Sure I want it but do I need it? No. It tastes good and then it's followed be regret. After May is up, I'm gonna try and stick to no sugar. Just want to save it for when it's worth it. When it's something really good.

9:30 p.m: Sarma. Rice wrapped in grape vine leaves.

Saturday, May 11, 2013

Saturday

8:00 a.m: shake. Coconut milk, cinnamon, coconut flakes, protein powder, banana

1:30 p.m: all you can eat sushi. Didn't overdo it. It was good. Also, it sucked not being able to have the ice cream for dessert but I can't even believe I had the control to say no. I think I'm officially over sugar!!! :)

Exercise (6:30 p.m): ran 7.7k outside. Had to burn off that sushi somehow...

8:30 p.m: made food. All of this in a pan. Coconut milk, spinach, tomato, curry powder, salt, cinnamon, mushrooms, onion, cauliflower, carrots. Greek yogurt mixed in after. Love.
10k tomorrow. There are 27,000 people running. Omagad. Help.

Friday, May 10, 2013

Friday

Is this day over yet? Wanna go home.

9:15 a.m: Fried egg and cheese English muffin.

12:15 p.m: Sushi. Sweet potato rolls, avocado roll with like carrot and that clear wrapping stuff. What the hell is it? Rice paper? Who knows. I put this dressing over it all. Also had a small miso soup.

I don't feel good about my food choices today. I feel like I need more green.

3:30 p.m: Baby carrots and avocado

5:00 p.m: Some doritos

7:30 p.m: a Greek salad, potatoes and this broccoli pattie thing.
10:00 p.m: rice cake chips

Thursday, May 9, 2013

Thursday

9:15 a.m: Smoked, salted almonds. Banana.

12:00 p.m: 2 hard boiled eggs. Roasted sweet potato, cauliflower and asparagus in olive oil with some spices. Hemp hearts and nutritional yeast over it all. That last part was very hippie of me. I had a few 'veggie chips' someone had out.

3:15 p.m: An egg sandwich. To much egg today? Probably.

5:00 p.m: Went to a work related thing. I had a friggin good time. I felt like I was with my people. hah! This company took an arcade and hacked it so it has literally every single game on any system ever pre 2002. Umm... awesome? I loved them all. So ya, they had snacks there. I just ate a lot of cheese and crackers all night. No sugar though! :)

I skipped boot camp. I really wanted to go but sometimes you can't let it get in the way of life. An opportunity like this doesn't come up often and I was having a good time.

Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Wednesday

9:30 a.m: 2 hard boiled eggs with some salsa and vegan mayo. Soooo good.

12:00 p.m: Leftovers from last night's chickpea salad.

3:00 p.m: A luna bar.

4:15 p.m: Snacking on baby carrots

6:00 p.m: sweet potato fries from A&W

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. Abs and boxing.

10:00 p.m: protein shake. Coconut milk, protein powder, cinnamon, coconut flakes, banana

Tuesday, May 7, 2013

Tuesday

10:30 a.m: A fried egg and cheese English muffin.

12:00 p.m: Exact same as last night's dinner except I added hemp hearts over it all.

There is delicious Dufflet carrot cake in the kitchen for the taking. Exercising all my control. Not having any. So far so good. It has been 6 days without sugar. WTF.

4:00 p.m: A little bit of a butternut squash salad. It had goat cheese, walnuts and some green stuff in it. Almonds too.

Exercise (5:30 p.m): ran 4.3k outside. Was nice. Then on to boot camp for 1 hr and left a sweaty mess.

10:30 p.m: 2 hard boiled eggs. Salad made of tomato, chick peas, basil, feta cheese, green onion, hemp hearts, S&P, olive oil and lemon juice.

Monday, May 6, 2013

Monday

7:30 a.m: Banana

9:30 a.m: An egg wrap

1:00 p.m: Vegan Thai curry with brown rice. Tasted really good today. Store bought.
It looks like this.
4:45 p.m: Baby carrots

Exercise (7:30 p.m): 1 hr boot camp. It's back for the month of May, Mon-Thurs. Get ready for me being tired and having super late dinner. I'll be getting home at 9:30 at the earliest.

10:00 p.m: Roasted brussels sprouts and broccoli with olive oil and some spices. Then, KRAFT DINNER. Hah! I have been craving it and haven't been able to have it so I bought some last weekend to make for a perfect night like a Monday after boot camp. It was... ok. I won't buy it again.

Sunday, May 5, 2013

Sunday

7:30 a.m: banana

9:00 a.m: 2 scrambled eggs with a ton of veggies mixed in. Also some feta cheese.

Exercise (11:30 a.m): Holy. Crap. I got my ass handed to me today. We did outdoor training. You know what's not fun? Running as fast as you can (which is slow for me) while someone is beside you pushing you, telling you you're not fast enough, not mean enough and suck. I could've been on a reality show. I almost gave up but didn't. If I gave up, I can't even imagine the hell she'd put me through. She'd never let me forget it. Oh man, it was brutal. My throat hurts from it. Also, the back of my neck is sunburnt and it kills. What a Sunday!

2:00 p.m: paid a little visit to MK on my way home. Had a small bowl of homemade potato salad. It was good and i'm sure not made with crap. I trust her. My fitness partner in crime. I don't know what id do if she didn't work with me. I'd eat crap all the time and never work out. Well, I would but having friends who get it and are supportive and feel your struggle is crazy helpful. Go team!

4:30 p.m: parents house. 4 slices of frozen pizza.

I'm pretty sure I burned like 900 calories (at least) in today's work out. I accept the pizza.

9:30 p.m: a bag of those rice cake chips

Saturday

Busy day. But successful.

Morning: went on a hike. It was pretty fun considering I hate outside. Some steep hills but all manageable. That was my workout.

Here is what i ate all day, not all at once.

Protein shake
Rice cakes
Veggie burger
Rice chips
Chips, the bad kind
Grilled veggies
Tabbouleh
Piece of fish

Also, I'd like to say that for the first to e ever I said no to sugar. YES. My friends had pocky sticks and ice cream sandwiches. I wanted them, bad. Somehow I managed not to have any. Also, later at my parents house I didn't even touch the chocolate that was in front of me. I've never had this kind of restraint. 5 days so far of no sugar. Love it.

Also, typing on an iPad sucks.

Dreams

2 a.m. Dreamt I got murdered. Big time. Looked it up amd meaning is spot on.

To dream that you have been killed suggests that your actions are disconnected from your emotions and conscience. The dream refers to drastic changes that you are trying to make. There is a characteristic that you want to get rid of or a habit that you want to end within yourself. Killing represents the killing off of the old parts and old habits. Alternatively, the dream represents feelings of being let down or betrayed by someone in your waking life. You are feeling overwhelmed, shocked and disappointed..

My month of May exercise madness and elimination of sugar. This is exactly how I feel. Betrayal? Yes. The saboteurs trying to get me to eat badly. Oh they exist. I see it. Only fuels the fire to get me to work harder.

Friday, May 3, 2013

Friday

Wanna go home. Why? I just want to go home and go running.
It's day three of me not eating sugar. I don't even want any at this point. So far so good.

10:00 a.m: Handful of almonds

12:00 p.m: Leftover of that salad from last night. 2 hard boiled eggs, Put hemp hearts all over it. I also had a few bites of a tuna sandwich. TUNA. I ate meat.

4:00 p.m: some nachos on a patio

Exercise (7:00 p.m): 6.8k run outside

9:00 p.m: personal pizza I made with cauliflower crust. So good.

Mayhem

We're doing a 30 day challenge at work. Here is the deal.

- You give up one vice in food that you have to eliminate. For me, I picked sugar. I know. I might die. I'm still eating the odd fruit here and there but I'm basically saying no to any desserts or sweets. Which for me, is huge. I'm gonna try my best to eliminate natural sugars too. I think in my diet it'll mostly pop up in honey, protein bars, bananas... things like that. But I always will get the lowest possible sugar content stuff anyway in health foods so hopefully it'll be ok. For example, my protein bars have like 2 grams or sugar. Not bad? I'm gonna try. But ya, like I said, if I just go with cutting out processed sugar - I win in my head.

- You exercise like mad. Everyone is choosing their poison. Some girls are doing one of those aerobics videos every day after work. Others run. Others gym. I'm doing the boot camp again starting Monday, 4 x a week. I'm also going to continue to run wherever possible. I might go crazy and run before my boot camp. I have a 10k to do in like less than two weeks. Then another 5k in June. 5k seems like nothing now. YES! I never thought I'd get there but I have.

Everyone is in and we all put in $20. At the end of the month we celebrate by going out with that money. I plan to buy a great dessert, wherever we go.

Anyways, one day has past in May and so far so good. No sugar but I didn't get to exercise cause of work. It's ok, one day won't kill me.

Look, we even have a chart on the wall where we have a point system going. I got this!

Thursday

I don't feel like yesterday counted as a day. I got home at 12:30 a.m. and fell asleep instantly and now here I am for work. Meh.

8:00 a.m: Shake. Rice milk, unsweetened coconut shreds, cinnamon, protein powder, banana

12:00 p.m: Leftovers of the veggie curry. Added more broccoli. Greek yogurt.

4:30p.m: baby carrots

Exercise (7:00 p.m): 7.3k run outside

8:30 p.m: roasted Brussels sprouts. Salad with parsley, tomato, feta cheese, green onion, quinoa, basil, salt and pepper, lemon juice, olive oil. Good.

Wednesday, May 1, 2013

Wednesday

7:45 a.m: 2 scrambled eggs with butter and feta cheese.

12:00 p.m: Leftovers of the curry from last night. Greek yogurt.

4:00 p.m: Handful of smoked almonds

6:00 p.m: Apple

8:30 p.m: At work (10 p.m as I type this, shitty). Ordered from Fresh. Got a huge salad and sweet potato fries with vegan mayo. Really good but super full.
